Hobbies vs Addictions: Introducing Filmmaker and Bostonian Jack

What do you do for a living? Describe your interests, hobbies, and career path that you are taking.

Right now I’m a full-time student and a full-time filmmaker. I’m not sure if the latter is a hobby vs. addiction, but it’s the most fun and challenging work that I’ve ever done, so I figure I should just keep doing that. Currently I am an assistant editor for a Nova documentary. Even though I am still learning, and probably will be for the rest of my life, I’d say editing is my area of expertise.

How would you describe your life in Boston in one sentence?

Too busy.

Tell us a story of interest.

I was writing in a coffee shop and the table in front of me got into an argument. In the heat of the argument they said to ask me what I thought about the color of the website for their new business. Since I started making films, I spend a lot of time thinking about symbolic connections between elements, so I gave them serious advice. We ended up talking for a few hours and actually became friends.
