The Lawn on D Will Be Your New Summer Spot

As summer nears, the streets of Boston become more crowded with tourists and residents looking to soak up the sun. It seems as soon as the temperature reaches over 70 degrees, everyone reemerges from their respective cocoons.

But along with the influx of people, the amount of things to do in Boston increases exponentially. From rooftop bars to outdoor festivals, summers in Boston are filled with endless opportunities. Perhaps there is no better place to be during the summer than The Lawn on D.

 

What is the Lawn on D?

In simple terms, it’s an adult playground. Located in south Boston, The Lawn on D is a 2.7 acre first-of-its-kind outdoor interactive space that is home to hundreds of different events throughout the year. Its signature glowing swings are the subject of countless Instagram pictures. According to The Lawn on D website, the space “provides a colorful collection of public seating and lounge chairs, interactive art exhibitions, assorted games such as bocce and ping-pong, and free Wi-Fi.”

What is there to do?

The Lawn on D hosts some of the most popular events in Boston including Flannel Fridays during the fall and Movies at the Lawn for most of the year. But summertime is really when the lawn comes alive. Every weekend, the Lawn is open to the public and offers various food and drink options, as well lawn games.

Some of the upcoming events include:

Truly the Start of Summer at the Lawn on D (5/12) – a volleyball tournament filled with contests and free merchandise.

 

Del’s on D (5/18) – There will be samples of Del’s famous lemonade and Gansett lawn games and giveaways. Narragansett will have a promo team and tent onsite to showcase their new brewery in Pawtucket, plus there will be live music from Rhode Island’s own SILVERTEETH.

 

Swing into Spring! (5/19) – The first family event of the season will include hands-on activities throughout the day as well as live music.

 

Harpoon IPA 25th Year Anniversary (5/24) – A 90s themed celebration of the popular brewery, Harpoon.
