1. Where did you grow up? Tell us a little bit about your connection with the city of Boston!
I’m OFD, or also known as, originally from Dorchester. I was born and raised in Boston, so I’ve been connected to the city my whole life. Growing up in an inner city has really shaped me into who I am today – an independent woman with an open mind and tough skin. It’s been amazing to grow up & work in Boston and to watch our city transform into an innovative and international hub.
2. What do you do for a living? What motivates you to go to work?
I am currently working as the Marketing Coordinator for EdgeRock Technology Partners, an IT staffing firm located in the Financial District. I started with the company in 2013 as an assistant to our sales & recruiting teams and after 5 months created my current role in marketing.
As EdgeRock’s Marketing Coordinator, I have a wide range of responsibilities. I am responsible for creating, managing, and executing all social media actions on our Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram; designing and creating content; planning our internal company events; collaborating with our sales teams to create lead generation campaigns & collateral; writing client project proposals; and maintaining the company website and blog.
My laundry list of responsibilities may seem overwhelming, but it’s what keeps me motivated. I enjoy being able to bounce between tasks and projects. It helps me stay creative and interested day in and day out. The possibilities for adaption and growth are endless in the world of marketing today. I think this is the best time to be a marketer and I’m very excited to be a part of its continued evolution.
3. Something that you think everyone should know about you!
I’ve been flying on a plane since I was 15 months old. My father and his family are from Newfoundland, Canada and we would visit every summer so my passion for traveling was sparked very early in my life. I also studied abroad in Spain while in college. So far I’ve traveled to 15 countries and don’t plan on stopping any time soon! I’m learning Spanish again with hopeful plans of traveling to South America next year.
4. What’s your dream job?
My dream job is to be a Chief Marketing Officer of a global organization (haven’t decided on an industry yet!).
I believe that everyone has a profound story to share with the world, but many don’t always know how to tell it. That’s my favorite aspect of marketing – the power to communicate ideas and connect people all over the world. As a leader in the marketing industry, I would want to create meaningful experiences for people in order to share their stories and improve their lives.
5. What drives you to the wall and what makes you the happiest?
Things that drive me to the wall – laziness, spelling errors, and people who board the T before letting others off first.
One of my passions that I have yet to mention is for cooking. I’m also Italian so I grew up cooking & baking with my mother. I love the creative freedom cooking gives me and how the world can melt away while I’m in my kitchen. I’m happiest when I’m cooking for my friends & family and witnessing the moment when their eyes light up during the first bite of my food (ask around about my blueberry coffee cake).
