Renee Jordan’s a California born, Boston girl! The loyal, sarcastic and adventurous blogger is one of the most fun Bostonians we’ve met so far!
Where are you from? What brought you to Boston?
I am from the planet Earth, haha. I grew up in Southern Maine but was actually born in California and moved all over the place growing up. After I graduated college six years ago I moved to Boston to experience city life but still be close to home.
How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
Loyal. Sarcastic. Adventurous.
What makes you a Bostonian?
Bostonians don’t do anything half ass. They put their heart and passion into everything. This is how I strive to live my life every day. Of course having a love for sports and beer also makes it easy for me to call this place home. After six years living and working all over the city I know this place like the back of my hand; I’ll take you to see the best views, eat at the best restaurants and reveal the many hidden gems of Boston.
Tell us a little about your Tumblr page, how/why did you start it?
Three years ago I took a trip to Paris where I spent the better part of the trip trying to capture the magic. When I returned I was overwhelmed with the urge to become enchanted with my own city right here at my fingertips. A friend of mine was using Tumblr and suggested I start a blog. One of the best pieces of advice I received was to post something every day; this forced me to get out there and climb on those rooftops, search for different vantage points and push my creative side. One of the most invigorating things in my life is seeing how much my blog affects and inspires people. It’s an opportunity I wouldn’t trade for anything.
When did you start your photography? Where do you find your inspiration?
I started photographing as a teenager and took some classes in college but I didn’t really start shooting until moving to Boston. Photography is my creative outlet and capturing moments gives me a purpose. My biggest inspiration is the community of photographers in Boston who I’ve met through Instagram. We started off with one common interest and now these are some of my closest friends. This community pushes me to get better everyday. We wake up for the sunrise and spend the entire day photographing; we are the crazy kids climbing on snow drifts during a blizzard while everyone else is hiding inside. It’s easy to get comfortable with a routine but my community always helps me to break out of that and I hope my blog can inspire others not to settle either.
How do you want your blog to impact the greater Boston community?
I want to highlight the dynamic places and people this small but mighty city has to offer. I want to remind Bostonians why waking up here is something to be proud of and inspired by everyday.
Definitely, check out her blog!
