Top 5 Places To Stay Cool In Boston

beat the heat

Let’s face it. It’s hot in the city. Boston (along with the rest of the world) is going through a bit of a heat wave, or maybe it’s more of a humidity wave. Either way, we’re hot, we’re sweaty, and we’re looking for just about anywhere to cool off.

You might have settled on sitting in your apartment glued in front of the energy-sucking a/c unit that’s barely drying up the sweat beads on your head. It may seem too hot to do anything, but luckily we live in a city where staying cool can also mean doing something exciting.

We’ve compiled our top places in Boston to do something cool, while staying, well, cool. Check them out.

At this hotel located in the heart of Back Bay, you’ll never have to choose between the bar and the pool. The only thing that’s better than cooling off with a dip in the pool is cooling off with a dip in the pool and a cocktail. This is a must-go-to for the luxury seekers of the city looking for a high-end day staycation in the summer.

Coolidge Corner Theater

Sometimes escaping the heat isn’t enough. Especially on those rainy, humid days, you need to escape the outdoors altogether. Coolidge Corner Theater is the place to do just that. As one of Massachusetts most noted non-profit theaters, it’s one of the city’s best places to catch independent and classic films. Plus, they serve beer and wine, and surprisingly amazing popcorn.

Improv Asylum

When the heat drifts into the night hours, but you’re too antsy to call it a night, head to the North End for some hilariously improved comedy. For less than $30 you can watch a team of comedians create comedy gold in this well air-conditioned basement stage. And for the adults, their midnight raunch shows are a must-see.

Cheeky Monkey

Sometimes it’s just too hot to catch a Sox game, so we head to the next best thing in Fenway- a bar. Unlike the other bars in the area, though, this one comes complete with its own beer, crafted cocktails, finger foods, and an array of table games like pool and ping pong. We highly suggest the wild blueberry beer.

Eataly

Stay cool while you eat. If you haven’t been to one of the Prudential Center’s newest editions, you’re missing out on Italian food heaven. This place is not small. Tucked away on Boylston, Eataly includes restaurants, cafes, a wine shop, cheese shop, fresh pasta shop, Italian groceries, and a meat shop, just to name a few. Come hungry, leave absolutely stuffed.

Still not enough cool for you? Head indoors to some of Boston’s best karaoke bars to take the mic!
