The white Alba truffle is an Italian delicacy that is only available for a couple of months each year. Their distinct aroma and flavor are so desirable, that the truffles can sell for up to $2,000 per pound. And every year, the chefs on Congress Street spend a week in November designing their menus around these very truffles.
Barbara Lynch, the famous restaurateur, spent time touring Italy and studying Italian cuisine. Now, she makes sure to order up a bunch of white truffles to feature in her restaurants Menton, Sportello, and Drink. From November 7 through November 12, stop by to taste some delicious treats.
At Menton, the feature is a 5-course white Alba truffle tasting menu. The cost is $315 per person, but trust us when we say- it is worth every penny. The meal begins with King crab and hiramasa, followed by carnaroli risotto, rabbit raviolo, rohan duck, and finishes up with a chestnut mousse cake, with white truffles worked in to each dish. You can also request for white truffles to be shaved over any dish you order, for an additional charge. Shaved truffles are also available at Sportello or Drink over any meal.
No tickets are needed for the event, but supplies are limited, so make sure to call ahead and make reservations. You won’t want to miss this delicious specialty week!
